Emergency Declared at Hospitals as Bodies and Injured Children Are Brought In
According to Muhammad Asim, a spokesperson for Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), 33 bodies have been brought to the facility, while two others have been taken to Naseerullah Babar Memorial Hospital. Emergency measures have been introduced at both medical facilities in response to the incident.
Hospital officials said the children who lost their lives were aged 13 or younger. Seventeen injured children are also receiving medical treatment, with several reported to be in critical condition. Their condition has raised concerns about the possibility of further fatalities.
Rescue Operation Underway as Emergency Teams Reach the Site
According to Muhammad Bilal, a spokesperson for Rescue 1122, rescue operations began immediately after authorities received information about the incident. Sixteen ambulances and heavy machinery were dispatched to the site to support the emergency response.
Initial reports suggest that persistent rainfall had weakened the school building before the collapse. According to preliminary accounts, an upper floor collapsed first, followed by the rest of the structure, which came crashing down.
Rescue personnel are continuing their efforts to locate and recover people who may still be trapped beneath the rubble. The operation remains focused on searching the debris and providing assistance to those affected by the tragedy.
