PPP leadership consults GB setup on cabinet formation: Sources

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership has started consultations with Gilgit-Baltistan setup on the formation of the new cabinet, sources said.

The GB cabinet is expected to be formed after Ashura, around 14 Muharram, according to PPP sources.

PPP Gilgit-Baltistan has been asked to submit recommendations for cabinet formation. The party’s GB chapter will prepare a list of candidates for ministerial posts. The list of likely ministers will be sent to PPP leadership.

PPP leadership will consult with the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan on cabinet formation. Final approval of names for the GB cabinet will be given by leadership.

The party is considering keeping the GB cabinet compact. Sources said the cabinet may be expanded gradually at a later stage.

Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party will get representation in the GB cabinet, sources added. IPP is likely to get 2 to 3 ministries.

IPP gain momentum in GB politics after four newly elected independent members of the GB Assembly joined the Aleem Khan run party, strengthening the party’s position in the regional legislature.
