Pakistani singer, composer, and musician Tariq Tafu, best known for the iconic cultural anthem “Lahore Lahore Aye” passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest, his family confirmed.
The son of the legendary tabla maestro Ustad Tafu Khan, he made massive contributions to Punjabi and Pakistani music.
Over the years, he worked as a singer, composer, and instrumentalist, and also played a role in mentoring young and emerging artists.
He was also the son-in-law of legendary ghazal singer Ghulam Ali and had collaborated on multiple projects with singer Abrar-ul-Haq.
Funeral prayers for the late artist will be offered today at Shahenshah Cemetery in Iqbal Town, Lahore.
He is survived by his wife, one son, and two daughters.
