The internet can’t stop talking about it, even though it is “just” a hand-embroidered chikankari saree. Yet, the exquisite craftsmanship, heritage value and understated elegance of Nita Ambani’s latest appearance have turned the dress into a viral fashion moment.
Worn at the annual general meeting of Reliance Industries, the antique mauve chiffon saree was sourced from Swadesh, an initiative founded by Ambani in 2023 to preserve and promote traditional Indian arts and crafts.
Rather than opting for a heavily embellished ensemble, she chose a look that highlighted craftsmanship and artisanal skill.

The saree was handcrafted over a year by Lucknow-based artisan Anjani Kashyap and featured intricate chikankari techniques, including Do Taar, Jaali, Murri, Ghaas Patti and Balda work. Delicate floral motifs spread across the sheer fabric, creating a graceful and timeless aesthetic.
Complementing the saree was a custom high-neck organza and lace blouse designed by Manish Malhotra.
The blouse featured subtle pin-tuck detailing, pleated textures and frill accents, adding sophistication without overshadowing the garment.
Fashion enthusiasts have praised the ensemble for its understated elegance, calling it a powerful showcase of Indian craftsmanship.
