The United States carried out strikes on Iranian military sites after Tehran allegedly targeted three American destroyers passing through the Strait of Hormuz, according to the US military, AFP reported.

US Central Command said Iranian forces launched missiles, drones, and small boats toward the warships, although none of the vessels were struck during the incident.

In response, American forces intercepted the incoming threats and launched attacks on Iranian military facilities believed to be linked to the assault, the military said in a statement posted on X.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump downplayed the confrontation, describing Iran’s actions as “a trifle” and insisting that the ceasefire remained intact.

“Is the ceasefire with Iran still on?”@POTUS: “They trifled with us today. We blew ’em away… If there’s no ceasefire, you’re not going to have to know. You’re just gonna have to look at one big glow coming out of Iran — and they better sign their agreement fast.” pic.twitter.com/yp74HmwZDl

Speaking during a visit to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool renovations, Trump said, “Yeah, it is. They trifled with us today. We blew them away.”

Separately, the United Arab Emirates announced on Friday that its air defence systems intercepted missiles and drones launched from Iran, amid rising tensions despite the fragile truce between Washington and Tehran.
