Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), reaffirmed Pakistan support for Kashmiris’ rights to self-determination during his visit to Muzaffarabad on Thursday, where he paid homage to the martyrs of the Kashmir freedom struggle.
According to the ISPR, Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) Field Marshal Munir laid a wreath at the Jammu and Kashmir Martyrs Monument, paying tribute to the martyrs and acknowledging their “enduring legacy of valor and selfless sacrifice.”
During meetings with local leaders and veterans, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s political, moral, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people, highlighting that continued human rights violations and Hindutva-driven excesses in Indian-administered Kashmir have failed to suppress the aspirations of the people.
Field Marshal Munir reiterated Pakistan’s long-standing position that Kashmir would “witness the dawn of freedom” in accordance with the will of its residents.
He stressed Pakistan’s commitment to raising the issue in all relevant international forums until a just resolution is achieved under United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The CDS also praised the officers and soldiers stationed in the region for their dedication and operational readiness. During a visit to a forward post, he stressed vigilance, coordination, and preparedness, warning that any aggression would be met with a swift and appropriate response.
