A building elevator near Bolton Market in Karachi fell, injuring 10 people, as reported by national media on Saturday.
According to rescue workers, the injured have been shifted to Civil Hospital. An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
It should be remembered that earlier, near Karachi’s Boat Basin area, six people were killed when the elevator of an under-construction building fell.
In March 2019, an accident occurred near Boat Basin Chowrangi in an 11-storey under-construction building due to the fall of an elevator and part of the roof, accoridng ot SSP South Peer Muhammad Shah.
He stated that the building belonged to Ameen Builders, and workers were installing glass in the under-construction structure. All the workers’ bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital.
A month before that incident, in Karachi’s Malir Jafar Tayyar Society, a three-storey residential building collapsed, killing three people, including two women. Among the deceased was 55-year-old Hassan Abbas, the owner of the affected building.
Immediately after the building collapse, local residents began rescue efforts on their own, while after the Pakistan Army sent heavy machinery, the debris removal work was carried out.
