The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to split Swat and Dera Ismail Khan districts, creating two new administrative units.
Following directives from Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, the Revenue Department has issued official notifications to the respective commissioners and deputy commissioners.
According to details, Swat will be divided into two parts — Upper Swat and Lower Swat. A notification has been sent to the Malakand Commissioner and Swat Deputy Commissioner, instructing them to submit a report within three days. Under the plan, a new district named Upper Swat will be established, while the existing area will be designated as Lower Swat.
Similarly, in Dera Ismail Khan, the government has approved the creation of another district. The Revenue Department has issued a notification to the commissioner and deputy commissioner, directing them to provide a report within three days.
The plan proposes splitting the district to create a new unit named Paharpur, while the remaining area will continue as Dera Ismail Khan.
