Security forces have launched a targeted operation against terrorists in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Under the operation, which began on August 11, 2025, movement in certain areas will be completely restricted for periods ranging from 12 to 72 hours.
According to a notification issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home Department, Section 144 will be in force on August 11 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Kharmonda Road, Khar Nawagai Road, Khar Pasht Salarzai Road, and Khar Siddiqabad Inayat Kalli Road.
Special Advisor to the Prime Minister on Tribal Areas, Mubarak Khan Zaib, said, “During the Mamond operation, I am in constant contact with the district administration and the Deputy Commissioner of Bajaur. Affected families are not being left alone; they have been immediately provided with accommodation, food, and basic facilities in schools.”
Another notification states that during the three-day operation, from 11 a.m. on August 11 to 11 a.m. on August 14, a complete curfew will be imposed in Lagheri, Gwati, Ghanam Shah, Bad Siah, Kamar, Amanta, Zagai, Gatt, Ghandai, Garigal, Naiq Kalli, Regai, Dag, Damadola, Sultan Beg, Chotra, Sheen Kot, Gang, Jowar, Inam Khoro, Changai, Anga, Safari, Bar Gatkai, Kharki, Shakro, and Bagro. Residents will be strictly prohibited from leaving their homes or coming onto the streets.
The administration has directed the public to complete all essential tasks by 10:30 a.m. and remain indoors during enforcement. Responsibility for any incidents arising from violations will rest on the individuals concerned.
Sources said that prior to the operation, many families had already left the area, while several others were relocated to government camps.
The displacement began when talks between local militants and the Bajaur Peace Jirga over sending the militants back to Afghanistan failed during a final meeting on Friday.
According to the district administration, 107 educational institutions, mostly in Khar Tehsil, have been designated as shelters for displaced persons, where basic facilities are being provided.
