A senior Russian military commander has declared that World War 3 is already underway, citing escalating global tensions following Israel’s recent military strikes on Iran.
Major General Apti Alaudinov, a prominent figure in President Vladimir Putin’s military leadership, has called on the Kremlin to launch a mass mobilisation of up to one million troops in preparation for a wider conflict, the Mirror reported.
“We need to declare mobilisation,” Alaudinov wrote on Telegram. “At least half a million people should be prepared in advance — but realistically, one million.”
The 51-year-old general, who serves as deputy chief of the Russian Armed Forces’ main military-political directorate and commands Chechnya’s Akhmat special forces, said the global situation has “taken on a new turn and a new momentum.”
“We need to call them up and prepare them for the fact that the war has already begun — World War III,” he said. “It’s happening now.”
Alaudinov added that Russia must unite at all levels to prevent its enemies from “playing with us the way they have with other countries — and now with Iran.”
The general’s remarks come amid global fears that the Israel-Iran conflict could spiral into a wider regional war, potentially dragging in multiple global powers, including Russia.
The Kremlin has not yet responded to Alaudinov’s call for mobilisation.
