Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed is a senior officer in the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) currently serving as the Director General of Public Relations (DGPR) for the PAF. He was appointed to this position on August 25, 2022.
During a recent conflict between Pakistan and India, AVM Aurangzeb Ahmed gained significant public attention for his bold statements against the enemy.
In a press briefing held on a Sunday evening by the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, AVM Aurangzeb Ahmed was also present alongside him.
According to publicly available information, AVM Aurangzeb Ahmed was commissioned into the General Duties (Pilot) Branch of the PAF in December 1992. Throughout his career, he has commanded both a fighter squadron and an operational air base. He has also served as the Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Operational Requirements & Development) at Air Headquarters in Islamabad.
AVM Ahmed holds master’s degrees in Military Arts from China and in National Security & War Studies from the National Defence University in Islamabad. He has served as the directing staff and a faculty member at the National Defence University and also led the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex team as a contingent commander in Saudi Arabia.
In the Pakistan Air Force, the rank of Air Vice Marshal is a two-star rank, equivalent to a Major General in the Pakistan Army and a Rear Admiral in the Pakistan Navy. Officers at this rank typically hold key command and staff appointments, such as commanding air bases, leading regional air commands, or directing critical operational and technical departments.
