The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has finalized plans to establish nine designated sacrificial animal markets across the city ahead of Eidul Adha.
The designated sites for these markets include:
- Sunday Car Bazaar in 11-D, New Karachi
- KMC Ground near Samanabad Police Station
- Northern Bypass Slaughterhouse in Surjani Town
- Cattle Colony in Surjani
- Cattle Colony in Bin Qasim
- Chicken Feed Mill Ground
- Cattle Market on Korangi Industrial Road
- Cattle Market in Bakar Piri, Lyari
- KMC Ground behind Safari Park in Gulistan-i-Jauhar
The update was shared with Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab during a review meeting on the preparations for the upcoming cattle markets. The meeting focused on logistical arrangements and ensuring smooth operations during the festive period.
Mayor Wahab instructed relevant departments to ensure proper facilities, maintain cleanliness, and uphold transparency in tax collection to facilitate an organized and efficient experience for both vendors and the public during Eidul Adha.
Meanwhile, sacrificial animals already started arriving at the cattle market at Northern Bypass, marking the early start of one of the metropolis’ largest seasonal livestock markets.
According to Shahab Ali, Administrator of this year’s cattle market at Northern Bypass, preparations began shortly after Eidul Fitr – much earlier than previous years. The first truck, brought in by livestock trader Javed Bhatti from Ahmedpur Sharqia, carried 27 bulls and cows.
