ISLAMABAD: The Federally Administered Tribal Areas’ (FATA) Senator Aurangzeb Orakzai is illegally occupying two illegally acquired lands of Capital Development Authority (CDA) near Zone III Bani Gala in Islamabad.
Sources disclosed that the Senator Aurangzeb Orakzai claimed that CDA has granted 200 acres of its land for plantation.CDA officials, on the other hand, stated that no person will be allowed to occupy or lease government land, nor will anyone be allowed to set up plantations. CDA added that action would be taken soon against the occupiers.
According to details, two remote areas near Bani Gala and Lakhwal and Mohra Jijan were acquired by CDA in the 60s and 70s. However, the locals have approached the court for compensation, but FATA Senator Aurangzeb Orakzai illegally occupied 200 acres of CDA land in a bid to establish a plantation.
The CDA Land Department has identified illegal occupation in government land several times, while locals filed a case in the Islamabad local court regarding the occupation. Judicial officials visited the spot and recorded the statement of alleged occupier Senator Aurangzeb Orakzai.
Locals of the area claimed that the influential Senator Aurangzeb Orakzai wanted to set up a plantation on 200 acres belonging to the government on the pretext of permission by CDA.
However, CDA officials said no influential person has been allowed to enclose fences or fence on government land. They are receiving complaints related to an illegal occupation on government land, which is being reviewed and soon stern action would be taken against the occupiers.
Locals have appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan to end the illegal occupation of such large public land in Zone III of Islamabad and order the CDA to conduct an operation against the influential senators.
