Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja has criticized the world’s hypocrisy and double standards regarding Gaza, following the deaths of over 400 people in the latest Israeli airstrikes on the besieged territory.
In an Instagram post, Khawaja condemned the civilian casualties, stating, “Over 130 children killed in one day. For no reason, to break a CEASEFIRE.”
He also shared a screenshot of a post by American activist Omar Suleiman, highlighting the devastation caused by the latest Israeli assault.
Born in Islamabad, the left-handed batter questioned the global response, pointing out the stark disparity in reactions depending on the identity of the victims.
“Now imagine if that happened on the opposite side. The outrage that would occur. All lives aren’t equal,” he wrote.

Khawaja highlighted the profound human impact behind the statistics, emphasizing that these children risk being remembered merely as numbers in history.
He reminded everyone that they had families—“mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers—just like us.”
In an effort to amplify his message, Khawaja shared his Instagram post on X (formerly Twitter), aiming to reach a broader audience.
He voiced his alarm over society’s growing desensitization to violence, stating, “We can’t normalize this type of brutality. Although I’m afraid we may have.”
