Seven to eight players are part of the blackmailer group in Pakistan’s cricket team, while Pakistan Cricket Board( PCB) officials including the chairman Mohsin Naqvi are hopeless against the group, it was stated by private TV channel 24 news in a report published on its website on Wednesday.

As per the report, a group of 7 to 8 boys is allegedly blackmailing to convince the board on many things while their strong lobbying is creating problems for the board.

After the shameful performance of the Pakistani team in the ICC Champions Trophy, the Pakistan Cricket Board officials are busy thinking about the future course of action, the report added.

The future of seniors who continue to play on the base of previous records is looking bleak. It is becoming difficult for seniors like Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf to maintain a place in the team. The future of middle-order batter Tayyab Tahir is also facing serious threats, the report added.

Experts are raising questions that 4 chairmen, 8 coaches, and 26 selectors have changed in the last three years. So why senior cricketers are still part of the team despite their failure? The report inquired.

According to sources, after the announcement of Pakistan’s 15-member team for the Champions Trophy, the PCB suggested the selection committee review the squad at least twice, but the selectors and Captain Mohammad Rizwan did not listen, the report claimed.

The selectors have a strong stance on some issues. Reliable sources say that at the behest of Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, the selectors held their first meeting of one and a half hours in the boardroom of the national academy, but no progress was made. They were advised to change two to three players and add a spinner, it added.

“Before the match against India, PCB officials told the selectors and captain to replace Imam-ul-Haq with Usman Khan as the opener because Usman Khan has played most of his cricket in the Emirates. This time too, Mohammad Rizwan and the selectors did not change their opinion with a strong stance.”

Sources claim that an immediate shake-up is not possible, but changes in the team are inevitable. A decision on changes in the selection committee and other important positions will be made after the New Zealand tour, the report stated.
