The Chief Minister of Sindh has instructed the education department to create the province’s first-ever transgender education policy.
Sindh government spokesperson Sukhdev Assardas Hemnani emphasized that Sindh is the only province not only dedicated to advancing transgender education but also actively working to develop a new policy for it.
He highlighted that the Sindh government had previously approved a job quota for transgender individuals under the Sindh Civil Servants Amendment Act, allowing them to access government jobs on both merit and through the reserved quota.
Sindh also allocated a quota for transgender people in the local government system, making it the first province in Pakistan to do so.
Hemnani reaffirmed the Sindh government’s commitment to ensuring the fundamental rights of the transgender community in alignment with principles of equality.
