COLOMBO: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has invited the newly-elected Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to visit Pakistan on behalf of President Arif Alvi.
Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Dr. Muhammad Faisal posted a tweet where he wrote, “FM handed over a letter from President to President of Sri Lanka and invited him to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience.”

He also posted that Shah Mehmood Qureshi and the Sri Lankan President discussed bilateral issues, trade, investment and people to people contacts.

While highlighting the dreadful situation and human rights crisis in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK), he posted, “FM also briefed his Sri Lankan counterpart on the dire situation & human rights crisis in Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir. He said that the 100 days plus lockdown remained a cause of serious concern for the international community. #fminsrilanka.”

The foreign minister earlier today arrived in Sri Lanka on a two-day official visit.
The foreign minister on his arrival, was received by Ambassador P Selvaraj, Additional Secretary Bilateral Affairs (East), Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sri Lanka, Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka in a tweet said.
