LAHORE: The Caretaker Government of Punjab has decided to establish a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to investigate the recent incidents of vandalism and arson that occurred in the province on May 9 following the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by the Punjab caretaker Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, to review the law and order situation on Saturday.

The JIT has been tasked with investigating the incidents and submitting a comprehensive report to the government. The government has vowed to bring all the miscreants to justice by expediting actions against them. Furthermore, all the vandalised locations will be geo-fenced, and cases against the miscreants will be heard in the anti-terrorism courts (ATCs).
The Public Prosecution Department has been directed to ensure a speedy trial of all cases, and the caretaker Chief Minister has pledged that no innocent person will be arrested. “Every criminal will be brought to justice with evidence. Those who attacked military and private properties will not be able to escape punishment,” he added.
The provincial ministers, police officers, and other officials concerned had attended the meeting, where the Punjab inspector general of police (IGP) briefed the attendees about the actions taken against the miscreants.
The caretaker Chief Minister also stated that educational institutions would be reopened on May 15, and the entire force is on alert to thwart the nefarious intentions of evil elements.
