The mother of our dear friend Sahibzada Zia Nasir, who lives in UK passed away recently. While informing me, he said, “the door of our prayers has been closed. My mother has reached to Allah.” This message of his is not only information of the tragic situation, but also an expression of the deprivation that he will now always feel in his life. There is no greater tragedy for any person in this world than the passing away of a mother, as it is not just a relationship in a row of relationships. This is the person whose attitude and behavior clearly shows the glimpse of the treat of God with human. Among our readers there will be many friends who have gone through this tragedy at different times. And it is not far that their feeling is the same as that of Zia Nasir.
So, it was possible to talk to brother Zia individually through communication channels, but I thought that why not spread the message in the form of a column to all the friends who have suffered the tragedy of being separated from their mother and who feel that the door of their prayers has been closed. From here on, my direct address is to Zia Bhai, but these words of consolation are for everyone. No Zia brother! The door of your prayers has not been closed, but the time has come for these prayers to be turn into corporal shape. A woman is a person whose center of attention is herself. It was created like this by the creator. Since God has placed no “responsibility” upon her, it is a natural consequence that she focuses on herself. But as soon as she became a mother, 90% of her attention is drawn towards the children. And yet it happens that the responsibility of children is on the father. This can be inferred from the fact that if a divorced woman demands pay from the father of her child for feeding the child, she has the right to do so, and the child’s father will have to pay her. But despite her freedom from responsibilities and despite her self-centered nature, as a mother, 90 percent of her attention becomes her children. Think about it. In most cases, the quarrel between husband and wife starts after they have children. It is the mother who makes various demands for the child and the father becomes angry when it is not possible for him to fulfill these demands. And when these children grow up and take over their own responsibilities, the tension between the parents also ended.
The mother not only look after the children, but also praying for them entire her life. Her prayers for children are also very detailed. The father only prays to be good, righteous and successful, while the mother asks Allah Almighty, for every need of her children. When the father gets angry, he stops the prayers. But the mother continues to pray in the heart even in anger. Appeasing the anger father is a difficult job, but just put your head in the mother’s lap, her hand of compassion will immediately fall on the child’s head. Paradise was not placed under her feet without any reason. This entity has a divine aspect. Just as God forgives his disobedient servant as soon as he bows his head before him, the same is the case with the mother.
It is a narration in Sahih Bukhari: “It was narrated by Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (RA) that some prisoners came to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Among them was a woman whose breasts were full of milk and she was running here and there. Meanwhile she found a child among the prisoners and started feeding him. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said to us, “Can you imagine that this woman can put her child in the fire?” We said no, she cannot throw her child into the fire as long as she has the power. The Prophet said that Allah is more merciful to his servants than this woman can be merciful to her child.”
The special aspect of this narration is that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)has used the measure of a mother’s love to describe the love of Allah. It seems that after the love of Allah, if anyone’s love comes first in terms of intensity among the creatures, then it is the mother. Usually the offspring don’t take things serious until the mother is alive, but as soon as she leaves the world, the first fear of the children is that now they are helpless and insecure. In this way, his whole life depends on keeping his actions right, otherwise there will be no one to save him with the help of prayers in a difficult situation. It is the moment when his mother’s prayers come true when he begins to correct his actions. There is only one way to keep a mother’s love alive after death. And this way is to remember her forever and pray for her every day. These prayers given to the mother of the children keep the prayers of the deceased mother fresh.
Brother Zia! Your deceased mother has prayed the prayers she had to pray for you. She has left this world but she has left behind her prayers here in your courtyard. God forbid, if you remember her only formally, her prayers will wither and lose their effectiveness. So now it is your responsibility to embody them and keep them fresh. Raise your hands and feet and get to work. May Allah Almighty, forgive her, elevate her status and grant her Jannatul-Firdaus. Ameen.
