Karachi traffic police Monday shared a traffic plan for public during the four days of the 11th International Defense Exhibition and seminar IDEAS-2022 beginning from November 15, which will be held at the Karachi Expo Centre.

Both tracks of the Sir Shah Suleman Road will be closed from 7 am to 6 pm on each of the four days of the exhibition, according to a press release from the Karachi Traffic Police. The Karsaz HIR Road under the Stadium Flyover and off to the Expo Center will only be open to vehicles with stickers.

“No commercial/heavy vehicle will be permitted from Karsaz, HIR Road to the Stadium,” it said.

The Expo Center, National Coaching Center, and National Stadium will all offer parking for attendees of the event. Only cars with stickers on them will be permitted to park there.

Parking won’t be permitted on Sir Shah Suleman Road, Stadium Road, University Road, or any other surrounding streets, according to the press release.

While this is being on, residents in the vicinity of the Expo Center have been urged to find alternate routes since Sir Shah Suleman Road to the Stadium will be off-limits to vehicles.

Heavy traffic coming from Sharae Faisal in the direction of Sir Shah Suleman Road will be detoured to Millennium, Karsaz, and Drigh Road on the left in the direction of Rashid Minhas Road.

Similarly, vehicles coming from the airport will use the Drigh Road flyover towards the Rashid Minhas Road, Millennium to NIPA. Traffic coming from the University Road can take a U-turn to Hassan Square, Jail Road, and then move towards Shaheed-e-Millat or the PPP Chowrangi, the press release stated.

Vehicles coming from NIPA towards the city will be diverted from Jafri Optics towards KDA Scheme 1 and the back lanes of the National Stadium to Stadium Road via the Steel Yard cut and Bahria college, from where it can make a U-turn towards the Aga Khan Hospital or Habib Ibrahim Rehmatullah Road.

Traffic will be detoured from Liaquatabad number 10 to Karimabad and then right to Dakh Khana, Teen Hatti.

Separately, all traffic leaving New Town and heading toward Liaquatabad will be rerouted to the left from the Askari Park cut, continuing on to Altaf Hussain Barelvi Road.

University Road will continue to be accessible for regular traffic in the interim. Only vehicles with the corresponding red, green, or blue stickers will be permitted to travel from the National Stadium bridge to the Expo Center for their designated parking areas.
