SYDNEY: Pakistan on Wednesday beat New Zealand by 7 wickets in the first semi final of T20 world Cup and qualified for the final of the big event.
Pakistan made a solid start as they reached 24/0 in 3 overs. Mohammad Rizwan started Pakistan’s chase with a classy boundary off Trent Boult. However, Babar Azam got a reprieve as wicketkeeper Devon Conway dropped the skipper off Trent Boult.

Pakistan’s 50 came up in just 5.4 overs in the chase of 153 runs, while later both Babar and Rizwan took Pakistan to 87-0 after 10 overs. Babar completed his 50 off 38 ball. His first 50 this year included seven 4s.
This was the 9th opening partnership of 100 or more by Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam in T20Is – the most by any batting duo in the history of T20Is, and fifth by the duo scoring 50+ run partnership in T20 World Cups.
Pakistan showed some superb fielding today, with Shadab sending Conway packing with a brilliant direct hit. Devon Conway was run-out for 21 off 20 balls.
Pakistan were off to a wonderful start, dismissing both New Zealand openers in 6 overs.
New Zealand lost third wicket when Mohammed Nawaz caught Glenn Phillips off his own delivery on 6 runs off 8 balls in 8th over.
Babar Azam showed good captaincy to bring Shaheen and Haris from 15th over. New Zealand lost 4th massive wicket as Shaheen got rid of Williamson on 46 runs. Skipper Kane scored 46 runs from 42 balls with the strike rate of 109.
Daryl Mitchell got to his half-century in 32 deliveries in 19th over, his third T20 fifty.
