KARACHI: A UK-based journal has named Pakistan’s climate minister Sherry Rehman with eight other peoples from across the globe for, what it calls, ‘shaping the climate agenda’.
In an online published report, the journal said Pakistan’s climate minister Sherry Rehman and Egypt’s Mahmoud Mohieldin are among those 9 people who are to be watched at the Cop27 climate summit, which is due to take place in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on 7-8 November.

The report said that the catastrophic flooding, which submerged Pakistan and the scant international response to the disaster had sharpened developing countries’ call for finance to help them recover from climate-induced damages.Â
Pakistan, which has been left with an estimated $30bn bill, will be front of the pack in demanding support. Sherry Rehman, the country’s climate minister, did the media rounds to explain the scale of the reconstruction challenge. As the nation chairs a group of 134 developing countries, known as the G77, she will be key in driving a push for a new funding stream to respond to climate damages.
The report said that Sherry Rehman’s  experience as a former chair of Pakistan Red Crescent and former ambassador to the US would come in handy.
