Former minister for information and broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry claimed that Imran Khan’s government was removed under a conspiracy. The government’s willingness to investigate the cipher is a step in the right direction, but he demanded the probe should be conducted by the Supreme Court instead of the Federal Investigation Agency.
Fawad Chaudhry also demanded that the audio leaks be investigated by a similar commission. It is as if in other words Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has signaled no confidence in FIA’s investigation.
Earlier, when former prime minister Imran Khan’s conversation with principal secretary Azam Khan on the cipher was leaked for the first time, Imran Khan said in an informal conversation with journalists on Wednesday that the audio was leaked by Shahbaz Sharif. He further demanded that the entire cipher be revealed to expose the conspiracy.
On Friday, in the federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the issue of diplomatic cipher was discussed, and a strange fact came out that the copy of the cipher was missing from the Prime Minister’s House.
In one of his Twitter messages on September 30, incumbent Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif alleged that Imran Khan had used it for his own political gain knowing that it would harm the national interests of Pakistan.
Later Chairman PTI Imran Khan said the cipher copy he had disappeared. “I don’t know where she went.”
The disappearance of the cipher must be investigated. And we must ask what was the purpose of Imran Khan or elements in taking possession of the cipher? Doesn’t this undermine the requirements of national security.
Can we accept the claim of Chairman PTI Imran Khan as true that Pakistan was threatened in the cipher and later this cipher had a big hand in removing Imran Khan from the Prime Ministership or and reject this claim. However, in both cases, the cipher is extremely important.
In fact, this is the document on the basis of which the building of the narrative of PTI stands that Imran Khan was deprived of the prime ministership through a foreign conspiracy and on the other hand, if the government is telling the truth, then that truth is also based on the investigation on this cipher.
The government’s indication that an investigation will be conducted on the cipher is a welcome move, but we have to see who will conduct the investigation. And if FIA or any other organization is entrusted with this investigation, will Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf accept the results of the investigation? It is better that the government accepts the demand for an inquiry through a judicial commission so that possible objections to the findings of the inquiry can be addressed.
