An Iraqi talk show host Enas Taleb has announced suing an international newspaper for fat-shaming her in an article talking about ‘fat’ Arab women.
As per BBC, host, and actress, Enas Taleb said that she was suing the newspaper as her picture was used without consent and also claimed that it had been photoshopped.
The article which was about Arab women being ‘fatter’ than men, was published last month. Titled ‘Why Women Are Fatter Than Men in the Arab World’, the article used Taleb’s nine-month-old photograph.
In the article, the author argued that poverty could be one reason why women were fat. He also used the picture with the caption, “Iraqis often cite Enas Taleb, an actress with ample curves (pictured), as the ideal of beauty.”

The article was widely criticized across the Arab world for falling short in examining the factors that contribute to the obesity issue, where women, in particular, are affected.
The 42-year-old celebrity is among Iraq’s best-known actresses and has nine million followers on Instagram.
According to Taleb, the write-up was an insult to Arab women, especially Iraqis. As per Taleb, she had started legal action in the UK.
