ISLAMABAD: A meeting has been held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to review the ongoing relief and rehabilitation measures in the flood-affected areas.
According to the details, in the meeting, the prime minister was briefed in detail on the ongoing efforts of the provincial and district administrations for the relief of the people in the flood-affected areas and the restoration of infrastructure.
PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed his satisfaction over the steps taken for the resettlement of the victims and directed the concerned authorities to utilize all resources in this regard.
The prime minister appreciated the role of NDMA and NHA in ensuring timely relief of affected people and restoration of damaged infrastructure and directed them to further enhance their capabilities in view of the possibility of more rains.
In the meeting presided over by the prime minister, Minister of Communications Maulana Asad Mehmood, Minister of Interior Rana Sanaullah Khan, Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Security Shazia Marri, Minister of Railways and Aviation Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Qamar Zaman Kaira, Member of the Provincial Assembly. Sanaullah Baloch, Chairman NDMA, and concerned senior officials attended.
Relief Commissioner’s Office and DG PDMA have issued a joint Monsoon Alert which has been issued to Deputy Commissioners of all districts about the fresh wave of Monsoon rains.

PMD has informed us about heavy monsoon rains, and the flood situation is expected again due to rains, Monsoon rains will continue from 10th August to 13th August.
Heavy rains will occur in 16 districts along with thundershowers. There is a risk of flooding in rivers in Loralai Barkhan Kohlu, Musa Khel Shirani, and Sabi, while there is a risk of flooding in the rivers of Kachi Bolan, Khuzdar, Kalat, Panjgur, Kech Pasni, and Gwadar.
In the letter, the Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to ensure the presence of heavy machinery at important places, while the latter has also instructed to shift the population from the low and hilly areas to a safe place.
Apart from this, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif established a relief fund for the people affected by the floods caused by heavy rains in different parts of the country.
