LAHORE: Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam has launched scholarships programmes for deserving and underprivileged children, according to a media outlet.
According to the media outlet, the right-handed batter along with his father Muhammad Azam attended an expo regarding O-level online education, organized by a private educational institution.
On the occasion, the No.1 ODI batter announced the Muhammad Azam Scholarship in the name of his father for deserving and underprivileged children.
“The future belongs to online education. Children should pay full attention to education so that they can become successful people,” the media outlet quoted Babar Azam as saying.
Recently, Babar Azam added another feather to his cap when he became the fastest batter to score 7,000 runs in the T20 format. He smashed West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle’s record to become the fastest to reach the 7,000 runs mark.
Babar reached the landmark during Central Punjab’s National T20 Cup clash against Southern Punjab, playing his 187th inning. He needed only four runs to reach the milestone when he walked in to bat on Sunday.
Chris Gayle had crossed the 7,000 T20 runs mark in his 192nd inning. Babar was three innings short of Chris Gayle’s record when he reached 6,000 runs earlier this year. Since then, he has taken only 22 innings to add another 1,000 runs to his total T20 runs tally.
