A strong earthquake of 6.8 magnitude jolted Islamabad and several parts of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday evening.
As per details, tremors were felt in various cities including Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Bannu, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Loralai, Jaranwala, Mailsi, Chichawatni, Minchinabad, Kohlu, Jahanian, Pakpattan, Shorkot, Dijkot, Shakargarh, Lodhran, Layyah, Kohat, Swabi, Kirk, Lakki Marwat, Para Chinar, DI Khan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Swat.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) the epicenter of the earthquake was recorded at Hindukush region of Afghanistan, while the depth was 180km.
No casualties or loss of life has been reported so far.
According to the international seismological center, apart from Pakistan, tremors were also felt in Turkmenistan, India, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China, Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Due to the intensity of the earthquake, people came out of their homes in panic in different cities started reciting verses from the Holy Quran.

Meanwhile, an emergency has been declared in the hospitals of federal capital including Islamabad Polyclinic and PIMS Hospital.
