India threatening Sri Lanka not to play in Pakistan: Fawad Chaudhary

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhary on Tuesday has said India is using cheap tactics. He further claimed that India has threatened Sri Lankan players over not to play in Pakistan.

In his tweet, Chaudhry said, according to the reports India threatened SL players that they’ll be ousted from IPL if they don’t refuse Pakistan visit.

“This is a cheap tactic, jingoism from sports to space is something we must condemn, really cheap on the part of Indian sports authorities,” the minister said in his tweet.

Earlier last month, Sri Lankan team’s senior players had refused to visit Pakistan for playing cricket matches. Pakistan has improved the security situations, and hosted the delegation of Srilankan Cricket Board for evaluating the security measures.

Dimuth Karunaratne, Lasith Malinga, Angelo Mathews, Suranga Lakmal and 10 other players have refrained from touring Pakistan.
The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) briefed 30 players about the team’s tour to Pakistan. The board officials made sure to rope in the players’ interest to play in Pakistan.
