Young Doctors Association continues protest in Sindh

KARACHI: Young Doctors Association (YDA) Sindh continued a one-hour token OPD strike across Sindh province against the poor state of Sindh government-run healthcare facilities.

The protesters were carrying banners and placards raised slogans. YDA chapters in Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur and Nawabshah also observed the one-hour token strike. The protesters demanded early release of notification about the stipend of PGs and arrears of house-officers.

Young Doctors Association have asked the Sindh government to meet their demands and said that if the provincial government fails to do so they will devise a new protest strategy across Sindh.

Vice-President YDA Sindh Dr Waris Ali Jakhrani informed said YDA Sindh observed token OPD strike in Civil Hospital Karachi Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and other hospitals of the province against the poor state of affairs in government-run hospitals in the province.
He demanded the availability of all medicines in hospitals to cate to poor patients, repair and functionality of CT scan and MRI machines, the release of enhanced stipend of PGs, recruitment on dental surgeons’ seats, and release of all arrears of house officers.
He said one-hour token OPD strike would be continued till the fulfillment of their charter of demands.
