Will provide Karachi-like package for other areas of Sindh: Asad Umar

GHOTKI: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said that a development package given to other parts of Sindh similar to the one announced for Karachi.

The federal minister is on a three-day visit to Sukkur, Ghotki, Larkana, Jacobabad and Shikarpur districts of Sindh. On Friday, he arrived in Ubauro on an invitation by Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) MPA leader Shehryar Shar along with Sindh opposition leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi and other party leaders.

Asad Umar promised to set up a university and NADRA office in the district. He said the district Ghotki is replete with natural resources has one of the largest gas reserves in Pakistan. He said Ghotki is close to his heart as he has worked there.  He said the district has fertilizer factories but in the past 40 years, there has not been one technical institute to provide skills to local youth.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives Asad Umar and incumbent Sindh opposition leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi visited Ubauro today on an invitation by Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf MPA Shahar Yar Khan Shar of Ghotki.

Speaking to reporters in Sukkur, he said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had been ruling over the province for more than a decade. He expressed his dismay over a lack of development in Sindh for over a decade and questioned whether the situation has improved or worsened. 

He pointed out that 70 percent of gas was produced in Ghotki district and the region should have been far ahead of other parts of the province. He said that development works in all these five districts were required to be undertaken by the federal government. He said it is incumbent on the federal government to provide equal rights to all part of the contry.

On Saturday, the minister would address a meeting of PTI youths in Sukkur and then proceed to Jacobabad to offer his condolence to Federal Minister for Privatisation Mohammed Mian Soomro over the recent death of his mother.

Asad Umar will also visit Shikarpur to meet PTI leader Agha Taimur and Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) MNA Ghous Bux Khan Mahar in Wazirabad before proceeding to Larkana. He will then attend a luncheon to be hosted by PTI leader Syed Tahir Hussain Shah in Rohri before departing for Islamabad.
