One Day, a miniseries remake of the Anne Hathaway romance film with the same title has achieved success on Netflix’s Global Top 10.
The series came in at no. 3 on the chart for the week of February 5–11 and on no. 4 in Pakistan. One Day was released on Netflix on February 8, meaning that its viewing numbers were only eligible for roughly half of the days of the charting period. This fact makes viewers wonder if it return with a season two.
Let’s find out everything about the series, its plot, reviews, and the potential of returning with another season.
What is One Day about?
Each of the series’ first 12 episodes revisits Emma and Dexter—sometimes together, sometimes apart on every subsequent July 15th from their first meeting in 1988 through 1999, tracing the ups and downs of their relationship against the backdrop of their personal successes, failures, and heartbreaks.
Cast
One Day stars Ambika Mod as Emma and Leo Woodall as Dex, Essie Davis, as well as Tim McInnerny, Amber Grappy, Jonny Weldon, Eleanor Tomlinson, Joely Richardson, and Toby Stephens.
P.S. SPOILER alert!
How does the series end?
The series finale jumps ahead to 2003 and 2004 as a floundering Dexter resorts to his old substance abuse habits in a self-destructive attempt to cope with his grief. Five years after the accident, in 2007, Dexter ultimately seems to come to terms with Emma’s death as he reminisces on their earliest memories together while visiting Edinburgh with Jasmine.
Will there be a season 2?
Initially created as a miniseries, One Day covers the entire narrative arc of Nicholls’ novel in its first season, raising questions about the possibility of a second season.
While official announcements are absent, the unpredictable nature of the industry and the ever-growing demand for engaging content could potentially influence decisions to extend Dexter and Emma’s story.
