Since morning, a hashtag of ‘Boycott Drishti IAS’ has been trending on social media.
The netizens have called for a ban on an Indian doctor named Vikas Divyakriti’s video that went viral on social media. The concern is who is and what did he do?
Who is Vikas Divyakriti?
Vikas Divyakriti is an IAS trainer, author, and a lecturer and the owner and director of Drishti IAS coaching centre, which offers tuition for IAS aspirants.
He originally started his career as a teacher at Delhi University. However, he cleared the UPSC Civil Services Exam (CSE) on his first attempt in 1996. As an IAS officer, he was assigned to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

Drishti IAS has more than 95 lakh subscribers on its official YouTube channel. Its Instagram account also has over 51900 followers. He breaks down complicated subjects on current affairs in the Hindi language.
What did he say?
The outrage against the lecturer erupted after his video went viral in he is seen maligning Hinduism by mocking Hindu deities Lord Ram and Sita.
He claimed, in a clear falsification of Hindu mythology, that Lord Ram told his wife, goddess Sita, “that just as food licked by a dog becomes unfit for consumption, you are no longer acceptable to be my wife.” Vikas chuckles as he makes the ludicrous statement. A few pupils can also be heard laughing in the background after hearing his remarks.
