The weekly inflation rate has been recorded at 5 percent; however, the rise in food prices has not stopped for the public. Measures are needed to protect people from inflation.
According to details, prominent economist Muzzammil Aslam said that although the weekly inflation rate was recorded at 5 percent, the increase in food prices for the common man varies in nature.
In his recent statement, Muzzammil Aslam said that the price of tomatoes increased by 31 percent, onions by 20 percent, flour by 19 percent, beef by 13 percent, and ghee by 12 percent.
He further stated that the price of garlic rose by 30 percent, chickpeas by 30 percent, potatoes by 20 percent, chicken by 15 percent, while the price of electricity recorded a decrease of 26 percent.
He added that economic indicators show mixed data about the level of inflation, and it must be clarified to the public whether their purchasing power has increased or decreased over the past year.
