A cricket match in England was abandoned prematurely after a runaway bull unexpectedly charged onto the pitch, forcing players and officials to halt play.
The incident occurred at Burnopfield Cricket Club near Newcastle, where footage recorded by club director Martin Oswell shows the animal running across the field after escaping from a nearby farm.
The bull was seen charging toward players as it moved erratically around the ground.
The North East Premier League fixture was eventually called off after repeated attempts to safely remove the “spooked” animal proved unsuccessful.
“At first it was quite novel, it was quite funny, but we never thought it was going to impact our game being abandoned,” said Mr Oswell, reflecting on the unusual disruption.
He added that safety concerns quickly escalated as the bull continued to charge in the direction of players while farmers tried to regain control of the animal.
According to Oswell, the situation eventually resolved itself when the bull left the ground on its own before police arrived at the scene. No injuries were reported, but officials said the match could not be resumed due to safety risks.
