Beyoncé has sparked excitement among fans after releasing her first new music in two years, unveiling a surprise single titled Morning Dew (Donk) over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
The Grammy-winning artist, 44, shared the track without prior announcement, marking her first release since her critically acclaimed 2024 album Cowboy Carter.
The song was co-written by Beyoncé alongside Pharrell Williams, The-Dream and Darius Dixon. It was accompanied by striking cover art showing the singer posing on a beach in a bikini.
Longtime fans of the Beyhive will recognize the reference to “Donk,” a previously unreleased track that leaked online in 2013.
The original version, also created with Pharrell Williams and The-Dream, was reportedly intended for her self-titled 2013 album but was ultimately shelved.
The surprise release comes months after Beyoncé marked the 10-year anniversary of her landmark album Lemonade, which dropped in 2016 as a surprise visual project.
The album, known for its themes of infidelity, revenge and forgiveness, featured hits such as Halo and received global acclaim for its storytelling and visual direction.
