Vehicle sales reached a 25-month high in January 2025 as auto sector sales recorded a 61 percent increase in January 2025 compared to December 2024, It was reported on Wednesday.
According to the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturer Association (PAMA) report, auto sector sales increased by 61 percent in January 2025 compared to January 2024.
Total sales of electric vehicles, jeeps, cars, vans, and other units in the auto sector in a month reached 17,000 units while in December 2024, auto sector sales were 10,279 units.
In the seven months of the current fiscal year, auto sector sales increased by 56 percent to 78,186 units.
Passenger vehicle sales were 11,868 units in January 2025 and this is 51 percent more than 7,864 units in December 2024.
Sales of vehicles of 1300 cc and above increased by 85 percent to 5,518 units while sales of vehicles of 1000 cc increased by 30 percent, while sales of vehicles below 1000 cc increased by 63 percent to 5,633 units.
Moreover, sales of trucks increased by 344 percent and buses decreased by 61 percent.
Sales of motorcycles increased by 31 percent in January 2025 compared to January 2024 to reach 132,947 units.
In this regard, experts said that auto sector sales increased due to stability in the value of the rupee.
Interest rate reduction from 22 percent to 12 percent was positive due to the low inflation rate, experts said.
