Remember Usman Mirza, who brutally assaulted a couple fearlessly and blackmailed them without being afraid of getting caught red-handed for his act? Recently his accomplice has been granted bail.
The recent act has shaken Pakistanis that how people like Usman Mirza’s accomplice can walk away easily after doing heinous acts without being afraid.
His accomplice named Umer Bilal Marawat who along with Mirza was booked under sexually harassing, torturing, and filming a young couple in Islamabad, was recently granted bail by the Islamabad High Court.
The case
Last month, a video went viral in which Usman Mirza along with other companions harassed a girl and a boy. They were a couple who was apparently dating in an apartment located in Islamabad’s Sector E-11 which was owned by Usman Mirza. However, one of Mirza’s friends gave the apartment keys to the couple.
As soon as the couple entered the apartment, within in few hours Usman Mirza along with his companions who claimed to be armed barged into the apartment and thrashed the couple, abused them verbally before removing the clothes of the girl.
Mirza not only raped the girl but also asked the boy to do the same, not only this but also assaulted and blackmailed the couple. According to the reports, during the blackmailing period, Usman had received a bribe of up to 1 crore from the couple.
Where is Usman Mirza now?
In July, Usman Mirza was sent to prison on judicial remand n a case under the torture and sexual assault of a couple in the E-11 sector of Islamabad. Since then he has been appealing to the court of granting him bail but sooner or later, his bail gets rejected.
Usman Mirza and his ‘mental fitness’
Usman Mirza underwent a psychological test and was also declared mentally fit for trial in a court of law a trial in the case of torturing and stripping a couple in his flat located at E-11/2.
Why Mirza’s accomplice for bail?
Yesterday, Islamabad High granted bail to one of the co-accused named Umer Bilal Marawat against two bail bonds worth Rs1 million each.
The IHC bench stated that Umer was not nominated in the first information report (FIR) nor is he visible in any of the videos, adding that the victims also did not mention his name in their statements before the police and magistrate.
Will justice be served?
This is not the only case of harassment, sexual assault, or raping the victim which was reported in Pakistan. There are many cases even after Mirza’s case that shook the whole country. Their case is still on trial; interestingly Mirza’s accomplice has gotten bail but Mirza is still behind the bar mentally fit for the court. Will justice be served to the victims or not, this might not be the concern here instead when will the culprits be punished and justice is served in Pakistan.
