ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear the case today filed by US blogger Cynthia D. Ritchie and former interior minister Rehman Malik, seeking withdrawals of cases filed against each other.

According to details, the parties have filed petitions to withdraw the cases against each other, ending the legal dispute. Cynthia’s lawyer Imran Feroze said that his client directed to withdraw the petition to file a case against Rehman Malik while Malik also requested to withdraw the petition to file a case against her.

Today, the Islamabad High Court will hear various petitions of the PPP Senator and Cynthia Ritchie. She had made serious allegations against Malik through various social media posts, such as rape and sexual harassment.

On the other hand, Cynthia had filed petitions against the top leadership of the PPP, including former president Asif Ali Zardari, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Yousuf Raza Gilani. Earlier, senior PPP leader and Senator Rehman Malik had sent a new legal notice to US columnist Cynthia Richie dismissing the allegations.

PPP leader Rehman Malik, through his lawyers, sent a defamation notice to Cynthia last year on 24th June last year for a Rs 500 billion fine because a female columnist had accused Malik of plotting against the former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.
