MURREE: Murree police have failed to arrest a hotel agent and owner for misbehaving and torturing a tourist family.
According to the sources, a scuffle broke out between members of the tourist family from Faisalabad and the hotel management after an exchange of harsh words on some minor issue in Murree.
Ali Tauqeer, who was visiting the hill station along with his family, was injured and later shifted by Rescue 1122 to THQ Hospital Murree for medical treatment.
Ali Tauqeer said that women of his family were also tortured along with him. The civil administration and police did not respond to the incident despite complaint, he added.
According to some tourists, local guides and agents again harassed them and their families but despite their complaints, the authorities did not take any action against the perpetrators.
It is worth mentioning here that a number of quarrel incidents have been reported in the tourist destination Murree where tourists were insulted, abused, and physically thrashed by locals especially hotel management.
In 2018 an online campaign ‘Boycott Murree’ was also launched on social media platforms. However, the government had ordered the owners of hotels to provide specific uniforms to all their guides with nameplates pinned on then.
Strict action would be taken against those guides and owners who will be found involved in ridiculing tourists in Murree, the government warned.
