CHARSADDA: Police on Wednesday conducted an operation and arrested three terrorists in Charsadda city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to police, the suspects belonged to a proscribed outfit and were plotting terror activities during the holy month of Muharram.
Police also recovered explosive material, two IEDs and three hand grenades after their discloure. Police said the commander of banned organisation based in Afghanistan had met them on several occasions.
The terrorists were plotting to launch a suicide attack at a police station. A suicide bomber had also been recruited to attack a police station or vehicle. They were also involved in several incidents of target killing and extortion.
Police also recovered three Afghanistan-based SIMS from their possession which was used for extortion. In 2014, the terror group killed Sikh trader Mahabat Singh after he failed to pay extortion amount.
The terrorists have been handed over to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) for further interrogation about their criminal activities.
