KARACHI: Residents of a three-storey building in Karachi’s Buffer Zone area were evacuated on Saturday night after it was observed that the building had titled to a dangerous level.
According to details, the three-storey residential building developed cracks and tilted to one side in Buffer Zone 15-A/3, with people saying it could collapse any time.
After informing the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) staff in this regard, the district police reached the spot along with officials of the authority and evacuated the residents.
The building authority officials have informed that the demolition work of the building will begin from today (Sunday). Sindh Rangers personnel had also reached the site and cordoned off the entire locality.
Earlier this year, several people were killed when residential buildings collapsed in Karachi’s Lyari and Korangi Allahwala Town areas.
At least two people had died and 12 were injured when a multi-storey residential building in Lyari collapsed. Both the deceased had been recovered alive by rescue officials but had succumbed to their injuries.
