Hollywood bombshell Sydney Sweeney is set to lead a new feature film adaptation of Lindsey Anderson Beer’s upcoming novel Hollow, a fresh reimagining of the classic 1820 story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
Sydney Sweeney, who is coming off major success with projects like The Housemaid and the conclusion of HBO’s Euphoria, continues to expand her slate of upcoming films. Her growing list includes titles such as Barbarella, Netflix’s live-action Gundam, and several other high-profile productions currently in development.
According to Deadline, Sydney Sweeney will not only star in Hollow but also produce the film through her banner Honey Trap, marking its first official feature project. The movie will be directed and adapted by Lindsey Anderson Beer, who is also producing alongside LuckyChap, Margot Robbie’s production company.
Although the novel Hollow has not yet been published, it has already been picked up by Penguin Random House imprint Putnam following strong industry competition. The release has been moved up to align with the film’s development schedule.
In this adaptation, Sydney Sweeney will play Katrina Van Tassel, reimagined as the central character. Unlike previous versions of the story, the novel shifts focus away from her traditional role as a love interest, instead placing her at the heart of a supernatural mystery and psychological thriller involving elements of horror and romance.
The project joins a long list of Sleepy Hollow adaptations, including Tim Burton’s 1999 film and the Fox television series that aired from 2013 to 2017, with Sydney Sweeney now stepping into a role previously portrayed by several actresses across different eras.
