KARACHI: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz has said that steps are being taken to improve the country’s economy.
Addressing a function in Islamabad, he said that economic weaknesses also have a negative impact on foreign policy. “Promoting economic activity and providing a business-friendly environment is a priority,” he said.
The information minister said that the strengthening of institutions is essential for public welfare and the solution to problems. “The government has cut spending as well as imports. Economic stability is essential for the country’s strength,” he added.

Shibli Faraz said that they are providing opportunities to showcase their creativity. “The role of the arts is important in projecting a positive image of the country,” he further added.
On the other hand, the World Bank has said that the global poverty rate has reached the highest level in the last 22 years due to the lockdown imposed to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
The World Bank said in a report on global poverty rates that by 2021, 1.5 billion people could be living in extreme poverty. According to the report, those whose daily income is less than Rs 312 are counted in the category of extreme poverty.
