KARACHI: Sindh Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani has informed that the standard operating procedures (SOPs) regarding the opening of educational institutions will be finalized in the upcoming two or three days.

The statement came while presiding over a meeting of the education department. During the meeting, Saeed Ghani reviewed the issues including finalisation of SOPs for opening schools in Sindh.

The provincial minister also reviewed the suggestions of the provincial health department regarding the matter. The meeting also discussed measures to improve the education department, upgrade schools and recruit new teachers.

On the occasion, he said that the steering committee of the health department will be consulted before any decision is taken. He also directed the authorities to submit a report regarding a post-COVID-19 academic year and syllabus for upcoming examinations.

The Education Minister further said that the ministry was aware of the extraordinary affects of the closure of educational institutions due to pandemic. “However, no risks could be taken on children’s health,” he added.

“The federal committee constituted to decide upon reopening of educational institutions will be held on September 7,” he said adding that after the meeting a formal announcement will be made regarding the reopening of educational institutions across the country.
