KARACHI: The novel COVID-19 has claimed 14 more lives and infected at least 720 people during the past 24 hours in Sindh province.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said provincial health authorities reported 720 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the provincial tally to 152,072.
The chief minister said 14 people died due to the virus bringing the provincial death toll to 2,704. With 449 people recovering from the virus since yesterday, the total number of recovered patients stands at 141,446, CM Murad informed.
Meanwhile, another 21 people have died in Pakistan due to the coronavirus and the total number of deaths has risen to 7,021.
According to figures released by the National Command and Operations Center, 1,708 new cases of coronavirus were reported in the country in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of affected people to 348,184.
In Pakistan, 320,065 people of coronavirus have recovered and 21,098 are undergoing treatment. The number of coronavirus patients in Punjab, 1,07,831. 41,069 cases have been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 22,432 in Islamabad, 16,195 in Balochistan, 4,911 in Azad Kashmir, and 4,394 in Gilgit.
The National Command and Operations Center has made it mandatory to wear a mask to prevent coronavirus in Pakistan. Citizens must wear masks when leaving their homes. Masks will be required for those working in government and private sector offices.
Provincial governments have been directed to make SOPs and masks mandatory in markets, shopping malls, public transport, restaurants. According to the NCOC, coronavirus is spreading in 15 cities across the country. Eighty percent of corona cases in Pakistan were reported from eleven major cities.
