SINDH: Sindh police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested 152 people over allegedly violating lockdown orders across Sindh province during 24 hours.
According to a spokesman for Sindh police, at least 14 people were detained for violating lockdown orders from different parts of the metropolis.
Those were arrested including two people from the South zone, 12 from East zone while 30 no persons were arrested from other zones of the city. A total eight FIRs were registered against the arrested people, the spokesman added.
Meanwhile, 137 people were arrested by police from different areas of Sindh, includes 14 people from Hyderabad, nine from Mirpurkhas, one from Shaheed Banazirabad, 60 from Sukkur and 54 people were arrested from Larkana over the violation of lockdown, whereas a total 14 cases were registered against the detainees.
Earlier, the Sindh government had imposed a complete ban on public movement, social and religious gatherings across the province under Sindh Epidemic Diseases Act 2014.
In this regard, a notification stated that the violation of the orders will be considered as an offense punishable under section 188 of the Pakistan Penal code.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had directed police officials to ensure that that lockdown is strictly enforced. He called for tightening the restriction on unnecessary movement and warned that curfew might be imposed if the lockdown orders are not taken seriously.
