Good news has emerged for the residents of Karachi, as the provincial government has approved the launch of 500 new electric buses in the city.
Sharjeel Inam Memon, the Information Minister of Sindh, announced that the scope of Karachi’s modern electric bus service is being further expanded, under which 500 new electric buses will operate on various routes across the city.
He stated that the new buses would run on three major routes under a public-private partnership model. Plans have also been prepared to introduce bus services in areas including Orangi, Banaras and other localities.
According to Sharjeel Memon, the Sindh government is taking measures to provide the public with modern, comfortable and environmentally friendly transport facilities. He added that the network of electric buses across Sindh would be expanded further in the future.
The government’s initiative is being regarded as a significant step towards addressing Karachi’s long-standing transportation challenges.
