IMF recommends increase in financial assistance under BISP programme

A proposal has emerged to increase financial assistance under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Kafalat Programme, which is being viewed as major relief for deserving families.

According to media reports, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has recommended an increase of Rs5,500 in payments under the Kafalat Programme. Sources further stated that a proposal to raise the assistance amount to Rs20,000 is also under consideration.

According to sources, the IMF mission was given a detailed briefing on the data of families registered under the Kafalat Programme, and there is a possibility that the financial assistance may be increased.

Meanwhile, the next phase of budget negotiations between Pakistan and the IMF is expected to take place today, during which important meetings will be held between officials of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and
