A key meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah was held to review preparations for 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, with religious scholars from different schools of thought and senior government officials attending.
The meeting reviewed security, cleanliness, traffic management, and civic facilities across the province.
The chief minister directed the authorities to ensure foolproof security across Sindh on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal and instructed that all arrangements for the peaceful conduct of Milad processions and religious gatherings be completed well before the scheduled time.
Murad Ali Shah said the safety of citizens and participants in religious gatherings was the government’s top priority. He directed the police, Rangers, and district administrations to ensure effective implementation of a coordinated security plan, continuous monitoring of processions and gatherings, and appropriate deployment of law-enforcement personnel.
The chief minister also directed the relevant departments to ensure uninterrupted basic services for citizens during the occasion. He said electricity, gas, and water supplies must be maintained at mosques, imambargahs, procession routes, and venues hosting Milad gatherings, adding that disruptions to civic services would not be tolerated.
He instructed K-Electric, Sui Southern Gas Company, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation, and other relevant agencies to remain fully alert.
Murad Ali Shah also ordered a special province-wide cleanliness drive before and during 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal. He directed authorities to ensure cleanliness along procession routes, surrounding areas, and public spaces. Drainage and sewage issues must be resolved before the celebrations, while damaged roads, blocked drains, overflowing sewerage lines, and other civic problems must also be addressed within the stipulated timeframe.
During the meeting, the Sindh inspector general of police briefed participants on the security plan and traffic arrangements for 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal. The chief minister directed divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, police officers, and local government institutions to strengthen coordination and continuously monitor preparations.
Religious scholars from various schools of thought, including Deobandi, Ahl-e-Hadith, and Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, presented suggestions regarding security, cleanliness, traffic management, and civic services. The chief minister heard their concerns and directed the relevant authorities to address them on a priority basis.
Murad Ali Shah praised the role of religious scholars in promoting inter-sectarian harmony and religious tolerance. He said the contribution of scholars from all schools of thought toward peace, unity, and religious harmony was commendable, and called for 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal to be observed with devotion, respect, and religious harmony.
The meeting was attended by Senior Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Labour Minister Saeed Ghani, Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah, Religious Affairs Minister Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi, Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah, and other senior officials.
Sindh IG Javed Alam Odho, Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi, Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan, DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah, and religious scholars from various schools of thought also attended the meeting.
