ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Senator Shibli Faraz today (Friday) has challenged the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to prove rigging in 2018 elections.
“The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is working on a non-democratic agenda to oust an elected government,” he said while addressing a press conference along with Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur in Islamabad.
Shibli Faraz said, “The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) used all options to address its reservations against the 2013 elections,” adding that the PTI demanded the recounting of votes in four constituencies, and rigging was later proved in all of them.
“The Opposition, on the other hand, has not used any platform to prove the allegations that they have levelled against the 2018 elections,” he said, demanding to bring forward any evidence that they have in relation to the alleged rigging in the 2018 elections.
Talking about the expulsion of Maulana Sheerani and Hafiz Ahmed from JUI-F, Shibli Faraz said that Fazl’s attitude is like that of a ‘fascist’. “The PDM was falling apart. They had differences within,” he added.
The information minister claimed that none of them wanted to resign from the assemblies. “It has been a policy of the Opposition parties to resort to threats instead of responding to corruption cases,” he remarked.
Speaking on the occasion, Ali Amin Gandapur said the JUI-F chief has started using threatening language against the institutions when asked to give an answer to his properties. “Maulana Fazlur Rehman will have to answer for his assets,” he added.
Ali Amin Gandapur said Maulana Sherani has leveled serious allegations against the JUI-F chief and exposed him. “Instead of answering the valid questions by Maulana Sherani, Maulana Fazlur Rehman expelled him from the party which is a non-democratic conduct,” he concluded.
